The piece
The pendant is a sculpted round shield in sterling silver — the aspis, the standard Greek hoplite shield, with concentric rings and a central boss in the traditional pattern. The face is detailed; the back is intentionally plain. Wear it face-out for the full pattern, or back-out for the cleaner read. Both work.

Why it’s named that
The aspis was the round bronze shield carried by Greek hoplites for nearly a thousand years. It’s the shield in every classical battle scene you’ve ever seen. The form is universal.
Care
Sterling silver darkens with wear. Wipe with a soft cloth, polish if you want it bright.
